Geowankers,
Is there anyone on this list who's working in transportation and logistics?
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association is responsible for
something called the Standard Point Location Code (SPLC). It's
described at http://www.nmfta.org/Pages/Splc.aspx , but, essentially,
they assign a unique code to 200K+ points that are known to be either
origins or destinations for freight in North America. A CD-ROM of
these points costs $975, and an annual renewal is $750.
If there's anything underfoot to provide comparable data at a fraction
of those costs, and on a more agile schedule, I'd love to hear about
it or be part of it.
Thanks, Eric
