from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecotopia
"Ecotopian concept does not reject high technology, but members of his
fictional society prefer to demonstrate a conscious selectivity of
technology, so that not only human health and sanity might be preserved, but
also social and ecological well being. Interestingly therefore, Callenbach's
story anticipated the development and liberal usage of videoconferencing."
Personally i find cities designed from scratch lack soul - that's one reason
Dubai feels so hollow. Culture and history of a city are important to a
society: just ask the Palestinians or Israelis

Oh, it seems, that I hit a nerve here? Sorry for that!?
For me that is just a nice science fiction piece. I love those futurist
thoughts... and my point was this little nice introduction of this
"true" 3D GIS Globe...
Apart from that, I also had to enjoy urban geography courses in my
undergrad times, so I know this Corbusier stuff - and I like very much
of it.
I'm not sure if I get you here right:

Are you denying that there is better life through engineering and
improvement of technology? If so I have to entirely disagree with that.
