In APs per square meter? We have some stale data at WiFiMaps.com.
I'm still looking for help from interested developers. There's some
discussion starting on the website on how to help with a rough plan.

 	http://www.WiFiMaps.com

The idea we were working on, was to take advantage of the data
provided by the community of wardrivers, and provide that as a location
platform. The key is in figuring out how to accurately place the
discovered access-points geographically, which makes positioning from a
client far more accurately.

We used a weighted average, since I couldn't figure out the math
for something more accurate. Otherwise, it is just signal strength, and a
profile for the client's WiFi radio and antenna characteristics. Didn't
placelab have some kinda setup for that?

Also, the software we run on is all FOSS software, and any code we
generate (and data too) will be released either GPL or CC. I still need to
talk to Derek about licensing. Please contact me if you're interested in
helping out or lerning more.
