Thanks Greg,
The snippet that you sent includes critical info for me.
We have a business need to support complex features with WFS. That does
not appear to be coming (from ESRI) for at least 18 months from my reading
of the info available. Please correct me if I'm wrong ESRI.

Re: [Geowanking] ESRI Products and OGC Services
Bruce,
Apologies to you (and the list) for sending redundant information. That's
what I get for responding too quickly -- I read right past the part of
your note that mentioned that you already know about the link that I sent.
As for real-world experience, I haven't tried working with ESRI's OGC
stuff beyond WMS since ArcIMS 4 (the WFS connector available back then).
The WMS support in ArcIMS 9.1 seems OK; our client handles it fine. I
don't like how they handle layers though, from what I remember it's hard
with a client to get only one from a service based on ArcIMS out. We
haven't installed ArcIMS 9.2 yet.
I am interested in seeing what's in the next release, especially for
server. I'm more interested in the ability to consume services for use in
anlaysis that can provide results to our users than publishing with ESRI.
I'm not sure how scalable server is for WMS publishing, but it's hard to
beat the analysis tools that you can publish with it.
I asked about OGC support in the pre-conference survey for the ESRI user
conference this year. I receive two replies, including this:
<snip>
"We are going to support WFS and WFS-T as part of ArcGIS Server at 9.3
(winter). We are making a major investment with 9.3 to do a number of
things: upgrade WMS (including support for legend modification), WCS (for
raster format), and WFS (with simple GML)."

>From Jack Dangermond, no less! Well, from a staff person on his behalf,
but I was suprised to see his e-mail in my inbox.
cheers,
Greg
