[Geowanking] iPhone Geolocating technology?

The phone *is* GSM--that's the voice side. The data options are  
things like GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA.
The iPhone is GSM + EDGE instead of GSM + UMTS/HSDPA.
