Call for Chapters - Maps and The Internet Volume 2
*************************
*Intro:*
Mike Peterson, Bill Cartwright and Georg Gardner came to Ottawa last
November 2005 to discuss the Future of Cartography at the lab where i
work, the Geomatics and Cartographic Research Centre
(https://gcrc.carleton.ca/confluence/display/GCRCWEB/Cybercartography+and+the+New+Economy).
At that seminar, these two fine folks -
http://mtl3p.ilesansfil.org/blog/ and http://bopuc.levendis.com/weblog/,
attended and lets just say */The World as we (some of the researchers!)
knew it changed! /*
Mike Peterson sent this call out this morning and after chatting with
him i send it to you! He really wants to include new ideas in the book.
I hope some of you will respond to this call, as i think - i state the
obvious here - the work you are doing is a really important contribution
to Internet cartography, open source cartography and participatory
mapping - and in fact your innovators changing the way we see and do
things (nice!).
It would also be really great to see what you do get diffused in another
environment.

*Call for Chapters - Maps and The Internet Volume 2
* The Elsevier editors have asked for a volume 2 to be published in
2007. Publication of *Maps and the Internet, Vol. 2*, will follow this
schedule:
May 1: Chapter abstracts submitted (250 words)
Sept. 15: First version of chapters submitted
Jan. 15, 2007: Final version of chapters submitted
April 15, 2007: Book submitted to Elsevier
As with the previous volume, the book will present an overview of the
different areas of research associated with the distribution of maps
through the Internet. This would include the technical aspects of
online mapping, applications, and online map use. The book should
provide a broad perspective on developments associated with maps and the
Internet.
I will send another reminder at the end of April.
-Mike
