[Geowanking] data/projection question

Hi,

Currently www.geoskating.com uses a Dutch-only projection (RD, EPSG
28992), which is handy in calculations as it uses meters E/N. As this
seems limited and since I'm migrating towards new (satelltie) maps, I
have some questions reqarding the most optimal storage/projection
strategy. UTM seems an attractive candidate and seems easiest to
manipulate/query/project/interactivity, but I'am not sure. Looks like
The Netherlands is in 2 UTM zones. In the future I am not limited to
this region.

- optimal format for DB table storage (lat/lon (WGS84) or UTM) ?
- optimal format for (interactive) projections (UTM or other) ?
- also in the light of querying WMS servers (none understood EGSG:28992)

I even saw somewhere that this is almost a political issue (e.g. Google
maps using WGS84) :-). If any of you experts can shed a light...

thanks,

Just
