Alex,

Good question.  They do share a number of technical components,
and we hope they will soon share more.  They are being both
handled in one foundation, with co-branding, in order to build a
stronger, more vibrant community rather than two competing
communities.  Whether that eventually turns out to have been a
good idea remains to be seen.

might be the best place to ask questions.
