[Geowanking] Route Changing in Google Earth/Maps

So I'm planning a trip down to MD from MA. I have a specified route
we're already taking and I'm trying to plot out places I can have
wireless access along the way. Despite the fact that GE doesn't seem
to mark the Garden State Parkway at all....I have some questions that
the more learned people on this list can help with, or point me to
another resource.
* Can I change a "route" point in Directions generated by Google
Earth? I tried to put a new placemark in to "redirect" the route but
it didn't recalculate the path.
* Is there any, (preferably free), tool that would let me specify my
path and then give me a list of the GPS coordinates in between each
waypoint to place within
<LineString><coordinates></coordinates></LineString> in the KML file?
It looks like GML is structured the same way - so if I can produce a
GML file and do an XSLT of sorts....
* Finally, is there any tool that would take such a path and let me
search a certain distance from said path for places, (like Starbucks,
Panera, and McDonalds which all have wireless).
Ideas?
