Thanks - this is an initial draft (It is also a wiki if you want to just 
hack the document). This morning I am comparing the tradeoff between 
FeatureType inheirtence and how you refer to Attribtues.

A lot of the toolkits use support AttributeType lookup by int, while at 
the same time saying they support a "super" FeatureType.  The first 
person to try an implement this would be in for a rude shock when making 
a collection of mixed content ...

I find it facinating that all the OO toolkits are having trouble with 
the problem. Perhaps if people were using a dynamic language like Ruby.
